There are many places, Wikipedia for example, where you can look up detailed information about pine trees.  For a slightly different approach I thought I would look at Ebay and see just how common pine trees are as part of the products we use.  It was Early December when I wrote this, so the results are no doubt somewhat atypical, but there were 1,300 auctions with Pine Tree in their title.

There were lots of Christmas trees of course, but also fabric with pine trees, and lots of objects made to look (sort of) like pine trees.  For example, many of the German Erzgebirge wood carvings incorporate pine trees into the work.  They carve the wood to make it curl and resemble pine trees.

Pine is still a popular wood and used in flooring, furniture such as beds and cabinets, book cases, and chairs.  There is substantial interest in "Heart Pine" which is wood made from the heartwood of slow growing, old-growth pines.  Unfortunatly, there isn't much of that around anymore.

Below are listed some of the currently active pine tree auctions on Ebay.  Clicking one of the links will take you directly to that auction.  We are building a network of tree related sites , each related to a particular species or type of tree.
